A concise, taut, and psychologically disturbing drama about a corrupted clown who belittles the misfortune of others, keeps his beloved daughter Gilda under lock and key, and takes out a contract on his employer who has designs on Gilda. The show concludes with a twist that is as shocking as it is horrifying. Rigoletto is one of Verdi’s greatest works and is filled with an unforgettable array of remarkable tunes. This opera is a great introduction to the art form, and a popular favorite among seasoned opera lovers.
