Black History Month Self-Guided Tour

Focusing on themes of resilience, activism, democracy, and community, the Black History Month Self-Guided Tour explores various exhibits highlighting the influence of Black Americans in California and their contributions to the state’s rich history.
Print the Legacy: A Black History Poster Workshop

Learn the art of screen printing while honoring Black culture and history. This hands-on workshop offers participants the unique opportunity to experience the creative and collaborative process of mass production while creating meaningful art.

Celebrate Black History Month with a special screening of The Watsons Go to Birmingham. This film follows the Watson family as they embark on a road trip from Flint, Michigan, to Birmingham, Alabama, in the summer of 1963. Along the way, they encounter profound moments of historical significance and personal growth, set against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement.

Black History Month Walking Tour of Oak Park’s 40 Acres

Explore the rich history of this vibrant community on foot, led by Sacramento’s own Comedian Dru Burks who will share this history of how the cultural mecca now known as the 40 Acres Art and Cultural Complex. The tour will start at the historic Guild Theater, a hub of cultural events and performances.

HeART Expression Art Show: A Celebration of Black Female Artists
