Kimberley Edington

Ifamodupe Kimberley Edington, poet, writer, actress, and singer, has been active in Sacramento performing arts scene for many years. She was a member of the very first Sacramento Slam Team to compete at National Poetry Slam and has been a featured artist at local venues from Sacramento Poetry Center to Mahogany Poetry Series. Her commitment to educating through the arts has been demonstrated by her work with SAYS (Sacramento Area Youth Speaks) and WOW (With our Words); two organizations that use spoken word to build the skills essential to success in formal education while encouraging youth to find their voice and passionately pursue their education. She encourages every student that she has the privilege of supporting to expand their mind and vocabulary and to communicate their story with value while being aware of the context (historical and emotional) for their own and the stories of others. She also stresses the importance of being able to articulate one’s ideas clearly and authentically using a pen, voice, rhythm, body and anything else that’s handy.
