Brazilian Day Sacramento Street Festival

Presented by Casa de Brazilian Folkloric Arts of Sacramento at 3rd Avenue, Sacramento CA

Sep 21 2024
Brazilian Day Sacramento Street Festival

Brazilian Day Sacramento Street Festival is still one of the most amazing Brazilian street festivals in the Norcal! Now in its 12th year, the festival will present amazing indigenous cultural and folkloric performances, Brazilian Samba music and Brazilian food in a day-long event.

Brazilian Day is a national celebration that draws millions of people across the country to festivals in major cities such as New York, Miami, and Houston. The Sacramento festival is organized by Casa de Brazilian Folkloric Arts of Sacramento, a non-profit organization dedicated to the performance and education of Brazilian Folkloric Arts in communities across Sacramento. The organization and festival are led by Brazilian native Jose Dantas (aka Mestre Caboclinho), a world-renowned artist with over 40 years of experience in Brazilian performing arts including tours with infamous Brazilian show group OBA OBA. Each year he creates a new vision representing a piece of Brazil’s cultural identity for the festival.

The 2024 festival is bringing new performances and fun to the street with Brazilian and cultural folkloric indigenous performances, amazing Brazilian music and delicious Brazilian food. This year we have invited some beautiful Brazilian and cultural performers to showcase their talent including Calpulli Tlayolotl, Pimenta de Cheiro Drum Group, Koyasan Spirit of Children Taiko Drum Group and more. Pimenta de Cheiro Drum group will be opening the event with a drum and dance parade in the street comprised of Oak Park community arts program drummers and Brazilian artists with Wiltown horse riders leading the procession. A Brazilian festival would not be complete without Brazilian Folkloric Capoeira performances directed by Mestre Caboclinho and Capoeira T.AB.C.A.T. Acrobatics, swift moves and lots of fun will be demonstrated by this group! Ana Gazzola and Brazil Sounds, popular L.A. Brazilian Samba and folkloric musical ensemble will round out the day with their amazing sounds along with a Brazilian carnaval Samba dance show by Raiz Brazil dance company. The event will also be filled with great vendors, Brazilian food, Brazilian capirinha drinks and a traditional Samba Brazilian Carnaval performance and more! Come out and join us for Sacramento’s only free Brazilian street festival!
