CARES

As the largest HIV/AIDS nonprofit clinic in the Sacramento region, CARES is a place of hope for thousands of people from all over the Central Valley who need testing, clinic services, and counseling. Since CARES began in 1989, they’ve made incredible strides in the treatment options for people living with HIV/AIDS, long-term financial stability, and as role leaders in the Sacramento community.

Today, CARES serves over 2,000 people each year with comprehensive services that care for the whole person, including a women’s clinic, dental services, on-site pharmacy, and behavioral health services such as counseling and nutrition education. Through the years, outreach and prevention efforts have expanded to include: a free walk-in testing program, the formation of a diverse coalition of community leaders, organizations, and the public who fight against this growing epidemic; and a Positively Speaking program that provides education to area groups and schools.
